Elegant Gems & Minerals was founded in 1986 by the late great Javed Paracha. A widely respected and elegant man himself, Javed was born and raised in Nuristan, Afghanistan. Located on the southern slopes of the Hindu Kush mountains in the northeastern part of the country. In 1979, at the age of 27, Javed migrated from Afghanistan to Idar-Oberstein, Germany, where he worked under the close eye of his uncle who was well established in the gem trade.
Elegant Gems
Seven years later, Javed formed Elegant Gems and traveled back and forth from Afghanistan, sourcing the finest crystals of Tourmaline, Emeralds, Rubies & Sapphires the world has ever seen. However, in 2022 Javed was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Carcinoma, a sever and fast acting form of cancer. Six months later, the virus would eventually take his life, but Javed Paracha lives on. Devoted to maintaining his father’s Legacy and the relationships built around the world, Javed’s son has vowed to keep sourcing the finest gems & minerals from Afghanistan.
